Surrounded by her family, Alessandra Maria “Mary” Cecere passed away on August 8, 2022, at the age of 98.
Mary was born in Cambridge MA on March 14, 1924, to Giulio and Alessandrina (Panarese) Cecere. She grew up and lived in the North End of Boston until the family moved to Chelsea, MA which is where she resided until her passing.
Mary was a long-time employee of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Boston where she managed the employee club store until she retired in 1995. In retirement Mary settled into a peaceful life with family and friends and was a devoted daughter. Mary was the primary care giver for her mother Alessandrina until her death in 1989 at age 96 and was a compassionate sister to her brother Giulio who predeceased her in 2008.
Mary had a passion for nutrition and believed in the power of vitamins and supplements, which was proven by both her mother’s and her own healthy lives spanning 96 and 98 years.
Mary was a faithful person with a kind heart and particularly enjoyed time spent with family from far and near and loved catching up with relatives via telephone. She knew how to make others feel welcomed and had a sense of humor like no other. Mary was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed but her memory will continue to live on through stories and in our hearts.
Mary, affectionally referred to as “Aunty” by her loving family, is survived by her sister in-law Rita Cecere, niece, and nephews; Robert Cecere and his wife Janice, Paul Cecere, Janet (Cecere) O’Neill and her husband Stephen O’Neill, Michael Cecere and his wife Anne. Mary is also survived by her great-niece and great-nephews; Bobby Cecere, Kelly O’Neill and Connor O’Neill.
