Obituary

Manuel Salé, 71, of Everett, passed in peace on Sunday evening, August 9, 2020.

Manuel or Manny as his family and friends called him, is survived by his wife of 41 years, Christine (Bruno) Salé and his son Dr. Michael Salé. He was the son of the late João and Marcelina Salé, and the brother of João Salé, Maria Helena Silva, Margarida Abreu, Maria João Hammond, and Maria José Salé. Manny was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend to everyone who knew him.

Manny was born in 1948 on the island of Graciosa in the Azores of Portugal. While in Portugal, Manny served in the Portuguese Armed Forces. He immigrated to the United States with many of his family members in 1972 and settled in Peabody, MA. He worked mainly as a machinist and spent most of his career (40 years) working for the AW Chesterton Company in Groveland. Manny and Christine were married in 1979 and gave birth to their son Michael in 1981. They resided in Revere for many years and after Michael’s graduation from college, moved to Everett.

All who knew Manny would describe him as a selfless, caring, sensitive, and generous man. He was an incredibly loving husband and father, and always put his family first. He worked tirelessly to make sure his family never went without, and his kind and gentle personality was known to everyone. Manny was incredibly proud of his son Michael, and colleagues at work told Michael that he was regularly the topic of conversation. Manny’s son Michael remembers the many road trips his family would take for summer vacations and his wife has countless fond memories of all the wonderful experiences they shared together as a couple.

Manny was one of those people who gave you faith in humanity and will be sorely missed by his family, coworkers, and friends. Que a terra lhe seja leve, Manny.

A very special thank you to the many doctors and nurses at Tufts Medical Center for their loving care and support of Manny and his family during his final days.

A private wake service for immediate family will be held at Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home in Revere, MA on Friday, August 14th from 11am – 1pm. A graveside prayer service open to all will be held on the same day at 1:30pm at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA. Our Uncle Manny was just the best! Always smiling and when he talked with you, he listened to every word you said, with such a caring way, always making you feel like he was happy and proud of you. We had so many memories as our parents were younger and most recently at some milestones for our own children. Those memories will last a lifetime and will never be forgotten. Fly high Uncle Manny and may your spirit soar with the souls of those gone before you always watching over us! You are loved and will be missed by so many! Love Frank, Deb and Family

Was a pleasure meeting Manny at A.W. Chesterton. Was always enjoyable to discuss our military service to our countries and his fondness as a kid playing on the Azores Beaches. You'll be missed my friends rest easy and many sympathies and prayers to his family.
